“Digicle,” Digital Cleanse

December 2, 2010

Yes, it’s time for another digital cleanse aka Digicle (idea stolen from Digimon, Digital Monsters). I could use a break from all of this stress from technology. And then I can finally finish reading Me by Ricky Martin or play Pokemon (or would that count as a violation?)… Here are the Rules

1. Timing: Pick a specific date and time (I’m choosing 10pm tonight, December 2, 2010) to start. And then the cleanse will end exactly one week from that point (December 9, 2010 at 10pm, for me).

2. Limitations: The cleanse calls for absolutely no use of social networks, which include but is not limited to Tumblr, creating or reading blog posts, Twitter, and Facebook. Chatting services such as AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, etc. are restricted. And texting and emailing and web usage on the phone is prohibited. If someone texts you, you can’t respond until after the cleanse. I suggest letting your friends know about your plan for the week. Emailing on computers is allowed, and if for some strange reason you just have to break one of these rules due to extenuating circumstances, then so be it. But try to find an alternative. Think about how we got through the days 20 years ago.

3. Talk about it: When it’s all over talk about your digital cleanse, you will come back feeling different, I guarantee. It worked in January now let’s try December.

See you on the other side. Spread the word.
