Wake Up Call

January 13, 2011

I haven’t written a poem and a while, and I think that this one was needed….

Never caught your breath
Never touched your face
Never touched anyone
You never threw your breath
You never offered a cheek
No one

How can I dream
To be so close
When being so close
Is all that I fear?

Never let you throw a breath
Never asked for your cheek,
Your lips,
Your neck.

Afraid to catch your breath
Afraid to touch your face
Afraid to touch.
Afraid to touch reality.

Living in this crowded space
Where decisions, good and bad, are born
Protected by optimism
Clouded with fear.

Giving up was the best idea,
In that space.
But I’m not giving up.

I am waiting.

Waiting for truth
Waiting for You.

I am afraid.
But You will not care;
For You are reality.

You will wake me up
